Itinerary

Arrival in Chennai and travel to Mahabalipuram (65 kms/1.5 hrs).

Arrive at Chennai airport and proceed to Mahabalipuram. The principal seaport of the ancient Pallava kingdom, which was located at Kanchipuram, is Mahabalipuram. Wandering about the town's magnificent, World Heritage-listed temples and carvings is inspiring, especially at dusk.

On arrival check in to the hotel and then go on a tour to Kanchipuram. Visit the Kailasanathar Temple, a Hindu temple dedicated to Lord Shiva. This temple is known for its sculptures, architecture, and intricate carvings. Spend some time exploring the temple and its many intricacies. After exploring the Kailasanathar Temple, visit the Ekambareswarar Temple, another Hindu temple dedicated to Lord Shiva. This temple is also known for its sculptures, architecture, and intricate carvings.

Later, visit the Varadharaja Perumal Temple, a Hindu temple dedicated to Lord Vishnu. This temple is known for its intricate sculptures, carvings, and architecture. Take a drive to the Kamakshi Amman Temple, a Hindu temple dedicated to Goddess Kamakshi. This temple is known for its sculptures, architecture, and intricate carvings. Later, take a drive to the Kanchi Kamakoti Peetam, a Hindu religious center and the headquarters of the Kanchi Kamakoti Peetham. Spend some time exploring the religious center and its many intricacies. Proceed, to the Vaikunta Perumal Temple, another Hindu temple dedicated to Lord Vishnu. This temple is known for its intricate sculptures, carvings, and architecture. After exploring the Vaikunta Perumal Temple, visit the Sri Ulagalandha Perumal Temple, a Hindu temple dedicated to Lord Vishnu. This temple is known for its sculptures, architecture, and intricate carvings. After exploring the Sri Ulagalandha Perumal Temple, take a drive to the Varadaraja Perumal Temple, another Hindu temple dedicated to Lord Vishnu. This temple is known for its sculptures, architecture, and intricate carvings.

Later, visit the Kanchipuram Silk Weaving Centre, where you can learn about the history of silk weaving and watch the weavers in action. After exploring the Kanchipuram Silk Weaving Centre, take a drive to the Devarajaswami Temple, a Hindu temple dedicated to Lord Vishnu. This temple is known for its sculptures, architecture, and intricate carvings. Later, return back to Mahabalipuram.

After breakfast, go to explore Mahabalipuram's landmarks, such as Thirukadalmallai. This temple is dedicated to Lord Vishnu, and is believed to be more than 1,500 years old. It is situated at the beachfront and is a well-known landmark in Mahabalipuram. It has a shrine dedicated to Lord Vishnu, and a large tank called the Thirukadalmallai which is believed to have healing powers. It also has a variety of sculptures and carvings of Hindu gods and goddesses. Later visit the Shore Temple, This is a group of monuments located on the beach of Mahabalipuram. It was constructed around 700 AD and is believed to be the oldest temple in South India. It consists of two shrines dedicated to Lord Shiva and Lord Vishnu. It is a marvel of architecture and is a great example of the Dravidian style of architecture. Also the Pancha Pandava Rathas, These five monolithic monuments are believed to be carved out of a single rock. They are each dedicated to one of the five Pandavas from the Hindu epic, the Mahabharata. They are carved in the shape of chariots and are a fine example of ancient Indian art and architecture. Later visit the Arjuna's Penance, This is a large bas-relief sculpture carved out of the face of a large rock. It depicts the story of Arjuna's penance from the Mahabharata. It is believed to be more than 1,500 years old and is a masterpiece of ancient Indian art. Also visit the Caves, There are several caves located in Mahabalipuram. These caves are believed to have been carved out of the rocks during the Pallava period. The caves have several sculptures and carvings of Hindu gods and goddesses. Later visit Krishna's Butterball, This is a large boulder located on the beach of Mahabalipuram. It is believed to have been used by Lord Krishna as a butter churn. It is a popular tourist attraction and is a great example of the power of nature.

Mahabalipuram to Pondicherry (100 kms /2 hrs).

After breakfast depart to Pondicherry. On arrival, Check in at the hotel. Start your half-day sightseeing tour of Pondicherry at Sacred Hearts of Jesus, Arulmigu Manakula Vinayagar Devasthanam the Aurobindo Ashram. This spiritual community was established in 1926 by Sri Aurobindo and a French-born woman known as "the Mother" and serves as a pilgrimage site for devotees of their teachings. You can tour the Ashram complex which includes the Samadhi Shrine where Sri Aurobindo and the Mother are interred, the Ashram Museum, and Auroville, the international township of peace and harmony. You can also visit the Ashram's many departments that employ over 1200 people, including the Research and Development Centre, the Sri Aurobindo Library, the Mirra Alfassa Centre, and the International Centre for Education. After exploring the Aurobindo Ashram, head over to the Rock beach. Here you can take a stroll on the beach and marvel at the colonial architecture of the French-style buildings that line the beach. Enjoy the sunset and take in the peaceful atmosphere as you relax on the beach.

Pondicherry- Auroville

After breakfast, proceed to Auroville- the city of Dawn, upon arrival visit Svaram instruments and musical research center where you can experience the demonstration of unique instruments. Visit Matrimandir viewing point by taking a walking trail or free bus service. Later you can have lunch at Solar Kitchen on your own which is within the premises of Auroville. Evening is free for Leisure and shopping at pondicherry.

Pondicherry to Chennai (170 kms/4 hrs).

After Breakfast, check out of the hotel and drive to Chennai. On arrival, check in to the hotel. Later, Visit Fort St. George,the first English fortress in India. Constructed in 1653 and named after King George II, the imposing structure stands as a reminder of the British Raj in India. The fort is now a museum, showcasing a collection of artifacts from the East India Company and British Raj. Visitors can explore the restored fort walls, visit the St. Mary's Church, the oldest Anglican Church in India, and take in the views of the Bay of Bengal from the ramparts. Later visit the St. Mary's Church and a museum, located within the walls of the Fort St. George complex and is the oldest Anglican Church in India. Constructed in 1680, the church is renowned for its beautiful architecture and its fascinating history. The church houses a variety of artifacts, including a marble altar, an organ and a bell tower. You can also explore the surrounding grounds, which feature an ancient graveyard with several old tombs. Also visit the Kapileshwar Temple, Located in the bustling district of Triplicane in Chennai, the Kapileshwar Temple is an ancient Hindu temple dedicated to the god Shiva. The temple has a rich history, with its origins dating back to the 13th century. You can explore the intricately carved architecture and ornate sculptures, as well as marvel at the beautiful murals depicting various Hindu gods and goddesses. Later, visit the San Thome Cathedral, Roman Catholic Church located near the Marina Beach in Chennai. Visitors can take a guided tour of the church, which features a unique blend of Gothic and Neo-Gothic architecture. The church also houses a museum, which contains a variety of artifacts from the period of Portuguese rule in India. And also the Government State Museum and National Art Gallery as you continue your exploration of Chennai. Pass by the Marina Beach: the second-longest beach in the world. You can take a stroll along the beach and admire the breathtaking views of the sea.
