Sonmarg is situated at an elevation of 2800 metres and is surrounded by snow-capped mountains, meadows, and glaciers. The best way to get to Sonmarg is to hire a taxi from Srinagar. The journey usually takes about 3-4 hours depending on the traffic. Once you reach Sonmarg, you can spend the day exploring the area. There are several trails and trails to take in the beauty of the place. You can also visit Thajiwas Glacier, which is a popular tourist attraction. The glacier is about 3 km away from Sonmarg and can be reached by a short walk. You can also try some local activities like horse-riding or a gondola ride. If you're looking for some adventure, you can take part in activities like white water rafting or river crossing (on direct payment).. Sonmarg is also home to many religious sites like the Shiva temple and the Khel Mata temple. You can also take a short trek up to the famous Kolahoi Glacier.Return back to Srinagar by evening.
